Asbestos Skip Bin Hire Perth — Contained & Regulated

Asbestos is the waste category where cutting corners becomes a six-figure mistake. Most Perth houses built before 1990 have some in the eaves, fence sheets, or bathroom walls.

If you've hit asbestos mid-reno — or you're planning to pull down an old fence — you need a dedicated asbestos bin with sealed handling and licenced disposal.

We run a separate stream for it: sealed bags, WorkSafe-compliant lining, direct drop at the Red Hill asbestos facility. No mixing, no shortcuts.

How to tell if you've got asbestos

Asbestos was used in Australian housing from the 1940s to the late 1980s. Any home built before 1990 has a decent chance of containing it somewhere.

Common hiding spots in Perth homes

  • Fibre cement eaves and soffits (the most common spot)
  • Old fence sheets (especially the corrugated kind)
  • Bathroom and laundry walls behind the tiles
  • Vinyl floor tile underlays
  • Old electrical switchboard backing
  • Around hot water systems and flues

If you're not sure — stop and test

You can buy a home asbestos test kit for about $40 from Bunnings, or pay a licenced removalist $150 to test a sample. Either is cheap insurance compared to the clean-up cost if you've already broken up bonded asbestos on your driveway.

Bonded vs friable — why it matters

Bonded asbestos (like fence sheets and eaves) is safe to handle if you don't break, sand or cut it. Friable asbestos (pipe lagging, loose fill) is far more dangerous and only licenced removalists can touch it.

Our asbestos bin service is for bonded sheets only. Friable asbestos needs a different process and we'll refer you to a WorkSafe-licenced specialist.

How our asbestos bin process works

  1. 1

    You book by phone

We don't take asbestos bookings online because we need to walk you through the handling rules.

  2. 2

We deliver the bin with liner and bags

Thick-gauge plastic bin liner, heavy-duty asbestos bags, and safety warning labels.

  3. 3

You (or your tradie) double-bag the sheets

Wet them first to suppress dust. Wrap in the first bag, seal. Wrap again, seal again. No breaking or snapping.

  4. 4

Place bags gently in the lined bin

Do not throw. Do not break sheets to fit. If a sheet is too long for the bin, call us for a bigger size.

  5. 5

    We collect and double-cover

Driver adds a top cover over the liner before transport.

  6. 6

    Direct drop at Red Hill

Asbestos-only facility. Certificate of disposal sent to you within 48 hours.

Info

For small jobs — the home clean-up bag service

If you've got less than 10m² of bonded asbestos (one fence section or a few eave sheets), we do a single asbestos bag kit instead of a full bin. Cheaper for small jobs and drops off the same day.

What it costs — and why it's more than a general bin

Asbestos bins run about 2-3x the price of a general bin of the same size. The gap covers three things that a general bin doesn't include.

Red Hill is the only facility in Perth licenced to accept asbestos. The gate fee is set by the WA Waste Authority.

A $5,000 asbestos fine is the cheapest version of the mistake. Worst case is a multi-decade health problem you can't see coming.

Frequently Asked Questions

In WA, homeowners can handle up to 10m² of bonded asbestos on their own property without a licence. Anything above 10m² or any friable asbestos must go through a WorkSafe-licenced removalist. Tradies can't do more than 10m² without a Class B licence.
Wet them down first with a garden sprayer — this suppresses dust. Don't sand, cut, or snap the sheets. Double-bag whole pieces. If a sheet is too long for the bin, call us — breaking it up is exactly what you're not allowed to do.
No. Every WA council prohibits asbestos in kerbside and general skip streams. Red Hill is the only licenced drop point in Perth, and the gate fee is 3x general waste. Mixing asbestos into a general bin is a $5,000+ fine.
They should stop work immediately, isolate the area, and call us. We can drop an asbestos bin the same day in most Perth metro suburbs. Continuing work after identifying asbestos is a serious WorkSafe offence.
